Ministering the Gospel in the midst of a pagan culture is a tall order. How different is the church supposed to be from the culture? What does it mean to live a separated life? How far can believers push the envelope of indulgence before they blur into irrelevance? Those are good questions for any church to consider, but the Corinthians weren’t coming up with good answers—so the Apostle penned this letter, his first to this particular congregation. The tone of the document is entirely corrective—that is, the Corinthian church needed to make some strategic changes. This series is not about any particular city; it’s about any church in any city. It’s about how a church can transform a city. It can certainly be done but, just as certainly, not the way the Corinthians were going about it. The Apostle couldn’t have been more clear…what happened in Corinth needed to stay in Corinth. For messages from other communities click
